A Hurricane Named Sandy

Like every  one else we have been watching this Hurricane unfold.  We have one Granddaughter and her mother there.   I've spoken to them a couple of times and they seem calm and still had electricity so that was good.   We are hoping the conditions stay as good as they are for them and they come through this unhurt.

The track of this Hurricane also brought back a memory of a trip I took with Kim to Long Island many years ago.   I was so excited when she said we could see the Statue of Liberty.   This statue was one thing I really, really, I MEAN REALLY, wanted to see.

Kim stopped somewhere on the Jersey Shore and let me take my first look at this beautiful lady. Even if it was her back I was thrilled.

Then Kim informed me we HAD to get through the city because it was time for offices to close and all those people would be headed home.   We had no idea what we were getting into.   The trip through New York City was practically a whole book in itself.

But...to give it to you in a nutshel we were very low on gas and in a VERY bad neighborhood when Kim informed me of this.   Well, having grown up in a small country town in Illinois I wasn't about to stop in the area we were driving through.   I told her we COULD NOT stop here.

We finally got to an area that seemed a little safer and she pulled over to get gas.   I just thought I saw that same gas station on the T.V.
