HOME AGAIN

We had a great trip to Illinois this past week-end.   It was good to see everyone and get to see the two future basketball stars of Unit 5 play.   In a few years they will be in the big time games and their names will be all over the Pantagraph.   That's the big newspaper of Bloomington/Normal.   So...just keep that in mind everyone.

We were happy to see they have become a happy family.   Sierra teases Ron by greeting him with "Hello Hardy" and the emphasis is on ARDY.  What a girl.
Ron and Jeremiah shot hoops till I was sure they were both froze and worn out.  Jeremiah doesn't wear out easily and shoots hoops when it's so cold I just want to be inside with a cup of hot tea and a blanket.

The weather cooperated and even though the wind blew a lot it was a really pleasant week-end.   And...I did absolutely NOTHING all week-end.   I felt like a lazy bum but it was nice to be pampered.

We left Monday at 5:45 a.m. and the temperature was 33 degrees.   We drove in our drive at 1:55 p.m.  and the temperature was 73.    YES!!!!

It is good to be home but a great week-end we had.

AN OLD HOUSE

When I was 11 years old my mom's house burned.   We moved into two rooms of the house next door to us for part of a year.   The only lights in the rooms were bare bulbs hanging from the center of the ceilings, no inside plumbing, and our heat was from a big old cast iron pot bellied stove in the middle of the room.

They had no phone and my mother insisted on having a phone put in but the couple that lived there did not want it.   They argued and argued and somehow mom finally won that battle.

They were a funny old couple and of course I was a smart mouthed kid.   The womans name was "Minnie" and his name was "Harve" Mershon.

That name has a big history in Vermont and their ancestors were quite wealthy.  One time after we had moved they took a grandaughter and her baby on a camping trip down the East coast.   They went from Maine to Florida and then back up through to Vermont.   For the late 1940's or early 50's this was quite a trip.

Well, a nephew contacted me Sunday evening on Facebook and they went to Vermont and saw this house is for sale.   If you pull up   ReMaxVermont,IL.com   you can see pictures of it.    Needless to say it looks MUCH different now than when I lived there.

A Day Going Down The Road

That's a silly title, I know, but couldn't think of anything.

We had Benjamin over the week-end.   He was bored most of the time but did not feel good and wasn't up to doing much.  He and Grandad did go to a movie and he enjoyed that.

He enjoyed playing Wii with Uncle Mark too and beating me at bowling.

I took him to school today and told him good-bye as he ran to meet his friends to get ready for their big Bake Sale.   He was SO excited and did my heart good to see how happy he is and that he has made new friends so easy.

I came home and realized how dirty my house was.   Decided to clean the frig and was very thankful no one from the health department had come to visit lately.   I'm sure I would not of gotten a passing grade.

One thing I wish I could take a picture of and that's a cobweb on the ceiling fan in my bedroom.   It is draped across two blades and then does a little ballet dance down from the center of the fan.  It's very unique.   You all should see it.   I know you 'd want one just like it.

Goofey Lunch

Yesterday I had an errand to run in Franklin and also needed to meet Connie to get Benjamin's clothes for the week-end.

I thought it would be good to meet her AND Mark for lunch.   Well, that was a silly idea.

Connie and I usually have a nice lunch, a laugh or two and catch up on each others lives.

But...yesterday was like taking a couple of clowns to lunch.   They giggled, talked about old times, giggled more, shared a couple of inside jokes and then it got really wild.    THEY BEGAN TO TALK COMPUTER.    Well, that was like me listening to a guy from Mars tell me how to cook supper.

I tried to tell them they should get a radio show and make some money at all of this but oh, no - they couldn't do that.   Said it would be boring to most people.  Somehow I had to agree but when a couple of people DO start a radio show I'm going to tell them what they SHOULD of done.

I bet Click & Claks's mom suggested they start a radio show and they listened to her and are laughing all the way to the bank.
